F.A.Q.

Eyebrows play a significant part in your facial symmetry. At Brows, we help determine the right shape for your face and develop a game plan for you to get them back on track.

Q:  How does it work?

A: Hard wax is spread thickly onto the skin and allowed to dry slightly before it is peeled away. This method is far less painful than other methods and pulls hair directly from the roots.

Q: What are the benefits of hard wax?

A: The benefits include fewer in-grown hairs, less breakage and therefore longer re-growth periods. This wax also promotes skin hydration and is highly recommended for sensitive areas.

Q:   How often should I have my eyebrows waxed?

A:   Most clients find that the regular maintenance time is around 4 weeks.

Q:  When is it not ok to wax?

A:  If you are using RetinA or if you are currently using Accutane, if you have had an aggressive facial with Glycolic or a peel, you will need to abstain at least two weeks before waxing.

We DO offer the Brow Tweeze, which is perfect for those that want to maintain great eyebrows while continuing to use RX products.

Q: Does it hurt?

A: Every person has different pain thresholds and experiences waxing differently, however with regular waxing most find it becomes easier after a few treatments. Our unique wax and expertly trained/experienced estheticians make waxing as pain-free as possible. If you have a particularly low pain threshold a couple of Ibuprofen half an hour before the treatment time tends to reduce pain.

Q: What after-care do I need to follow?

A: Keep the waxed area clean, and avoid heat and friction during the next 24 hours.

This means:

No prescription facial products for the first 24 hours.

No saunas, hot tubs or steam treatments.

No tanning (sunbathing, sunbeds) without sunscreen.

Avoid scratching or touching the treated area with unwashed hands.

Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools.

Please note: some small bumps and redness are common and perfectly normal - it is a temporary reaction, particularly if this is your first wax.  We recommend using Witch Hazel or a topic natural astringent after your wax treatment.
